CD Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound When Sweet Sleep Returned

Experience the definitive sound of modern psychedelia with When Sweet Sleep Returned, the critically acclaimed 2009 release from San Franciscos Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound. Released on the legendary Tee Pee Records, this third studio album represents a creative peak for the band, blending hazy “Saturday moods” with interstellar sonics and high-energy rock swing.

Produced by engineering mastermind Tim Green (known for his work with Earthless and Comets on Fire), the album features an expanded lineup that delivers rich, multi-layered arrangements. From the “crust-fuzz boogie” of “Clive and the Lyre” to the soaring vocal harmonies provided by members of Sleepy Sun on “Two Birds,” this record is a masterclass in atmospheric depth and soulful songwriting.

Key Highlights:

• Genre: Psychedelic Rock / Space Rock
• Standout Tracks: “The Slumbering Ones,” “Kolob Canyon,” and “By the Rippling Green.”
• Artistry: Features striking, surrealist cover art by renowned illustrator Andy Ristaino.
• Critical Acclaim: Highly rated by AllMusic and Rock Sound for its “ecstatic aural gumbo” and melodic intensity.

Whether you are a fan of 1960s psych-rock traditions or contemporary “echo-soaked” landscapes, When Sweet Sleep Returned is an essential addition to any vinyl or CD collection. A perfect soundtrack for long days and “gravity gone wrong.”
