Fionn Regans fourth album The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tattoo, originally released in 2012, now available on vinyl for the first time for Record Store Day 2026.

Written and recorded using just an acoustic guitar, a single microphone, and a 4-track, The Bunkhouse Vol. 1 shows Regan at his most minimal.

A raw and stripped back collection of songs, recorded quickly, with brevity and focus at their core.

Regan sees himself as a visual artist as much as a songwriter, and this album perfectly illustrates the meeting of the two.

Each song serves as a chapter, an image rendered with shrewd simplicity, brooding humour and the salt of the Irish Sea.

The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tattoo shows Fionn Regan at his most sparse, and its clear to see how it has become a favourite among his fans.

It has also been widely praised across the press, receiving glowing reviews from the likes of The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Mojo and Uncut.

MOJO 4 stars ???? ‘Lucinda Williams has labeled Regan “his generation’s answer to Bob Dylan” and on this evidence that doesn’t feel like hyperbole.

The Sunday Times “an undoubted talent in melody-making, lyric-writing and guitar picking, he also possess rare judgement.

It’s hard to imagine further ornamentation would have done anything but get in the way.

Uncut 8/10.
