Condition

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap’s “Incredible” stands as one of the most solid sophomore efforts to emerge from the late-60s pop-rock scene, showcasing Puckett’s remarkably powerful four-octave vocal range that could rival Roy Orbison’s dramatic flourishes. This 1968 Columbia release followed their breakthrough debut and proved the group was far from a one-hit wonder, delivering sophisticated arrangements that bridged the gap between AM radio pop and the more adventurous sounds emerging from the period. The album spawned several chart successes, including “Lady Willpower” and the title track, both of which demonstrated Jerry Fuller’s production prowess and the band’s ability to craft memorable hooks without sacrificing musical complexity.
