Spacing Out (LP)

Originally released exclusively in Bermuda in 1970, Spacing Out by The Invaders stands as a cult classic of raw instrumental soul and funk. Mixing spaced-out originals with audacious covers of The Meters, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, and The Isley Brothers, the album showcases the explosive energy and musical ambition of this young, self-taught group.

Long revered by collectors and DJs, Spacing Out captures the spirit of funk’s global youth movement, recorded with passion, grit, and a cosmic touch. It’s the kind of record that helped lay the foundation for the modern-day soul revival scenes championed by Daptone and Big Crown Records.

This definitive reissue was produced in collaboration with the original band members and includes a deluxe booklet featuring rare photos and a detailed history by Jefferson “Chairman” Mao.
