Unsinking the Cypress – Memory of Jane [VINYL]

After experimenting with fragmented melodies in his 2023 EP ‘In the Double’, the album marks a fuller exploration of Mal’s somber yet dynamic soundscapes. Drawing from his roots in jazz and filmmaking, he blends influences from Aphex Twin, Radiohead, and The xx to create atmospheric, emotive tracks. The album, co-produced with Oli Bayston and Harvey Grant, evolved from isolated demos into collaborative works, with contributions from various musicians and explores themes of identity, dislocation, and the quest for peace, balancing melancholic moments with playful, experimental textures.
